Policy on Planned Giving
The PCC and Church Members are committed to the concept of sound financial stewardship in order to fund the ministry of the church within the parish, to provide support within the local community and to make a contribution to the work of the wider Christian Church.
The PCC encourages donations from Church Members and others to be given under the national Gift Aid Scheme wherever possible. This enables our church to benefit by an extra 25% on all donations made under the scheme.
Planned Giving donations, either with or without Gift Aid, can be made using one of three methods:
- Direct monthly donations made from your bank account
- Donations made using special envelopes available in church
- Annual donations either by cheque or bank transfer

Policy on Outward Giving
The PCC and Church Members have agreed that a small proportion of the ordinary income of St Nicholas’ Church is given each year to church based charities either at home or overseas in support of the wider church ministry. The amount is reviewed each year and is currently set at 12½% of ordinary income.
The money donated by St Nicholas’ Church is used to support organisations committed to the relief of the less fortunate in society, specialist centres working in deprived communities, retired clergy in reduced circumstances, welfare support and ministry abroad.
In addition St Nicholas’ Church forwards retiring collections and specific donations to designated charities and supports other charitable bodies with donations of food via the Wirral Foodbank, children’s toys and presents via the Charles Thompson Mission and other goods via the local welfare charity Save the Family.
